Introducing Green & Blue Studios
Thank you so much to everyone who has interacted with us so far on Facebook, Instagram, by email or simply by signing up to our newsletter. We’re can feel some of you beginning to share our excitement already, which is so positive. I’m Thomas, the husband of Anabel Dorman, founder of Green and Blue Studios. I’m helping out a little bit while she gets everything ready for the launch later this year. There’s still so much to do!
Green & Blue, as a concept, has been in the works for 3 or 4 years, although Anabel’s long term plan was always to open a dance studio. We met when we both lived in Barcelona, back in 2005. Originally from Mexico, Anabel had come to Europe to dance, perform and study after spending some time dancing with Mexico’s National Contemporary Dance Center. When we met she had already been working as a Personal Trainer for several years, coaching a mixture of private clients and professional athletes.
We married in 2009 and moved to London in 2016, with two baby sons in tow. It was there Anabel discovered My Aerial Home, the aerial dance and circus school run by the inspirational Amanda Miles (and quite possibly the best thing in South East London). It’s no exaggeration to say that she obsessed after her first class (a new obsession to add to the list which, over the years has grown to include running, HIIT, yoga, pilates and even boxing, for a while). And that was that; the planned dance studio had evolved into a yoga and aerial dance studio.
And so Green & Blue Studios is born… Or at least, it’s on its way. We hope that it will be a place where the people of Haslemere and environs can enjoy the activities that have brought so much satisfaction to our family. We all love yoga and, although it terrifies me, Anabel and our sons, now 7 and 8, are keen aerialists.
I grew up in Hindhead and we moved back here from London at the end of last year, after I had a bit of a run-in with cancer. After years searching for a suitable venue in London (aerial demands unusually high ceilings) we found the perfect location within a month of moving to the area. There are some great options for fitness lovers in Haslemere, and we’re looking forward to working alongside them, but we believe Green & Blue fills a different niche. We’re sure this will an exciting new option the local people, our new neighbours.
The hard work starts now. We hope to kick-off construction within the next few weeks and begin with a soft launch in the early summer. We’ll keep you up-to-date on here, Facebook, Instagram and via our newsletter. It’s worth keeping an eye out as we’ll be offering free taster classes and big discounts to the first people to sign up, our founder members. You can use the button below to join our mailing list, if you haven’t already. You can also register your interest in our baby and kids sessions here if you know some young people who may like to give a new activity a try.
